EPA-0385: Russian MI8 helicopter, one of the most dependable helicopters available in the world. First used by Russia in the Afghanistan war, these helicopters have become known for ruggedness and reliability and are sold around the world. In South America they have been adapted for tourism to remote areas. This one was photographed in the village of Ust Barguzin on the shore of Lake Baikal in Siberia where it had transported an American television crew. It can carry up to 20 or more passengers and many tons of cargo.
